Philip Sanderson
I work with a range of media including: collage, moving image and sound. The scissors and glue collages use found prints and photos from an eclectic range of sources. The material is cut, and reassembled creating perfomative and at times surreal juxtapositions. For example one such mise-en-scène has a 50s film star posed against a country house landscape as she tries to pot snooker balls on the green baize of the lawn.
The collages seek to engage the audience with humour whilst using the articulation of space to echo wider societal relationships. Woven into the thread of the work is a rhythmic musical dynamic which co-ordinates and counterpoints the different elements both representational and abstract.
I have has exhibited in the UK and internationally and have an MA in fine art from Kingston university and a PhD from Westminster University.
