Polly Callder curates a landscape by two artists from two generations in an exhibition of two practices, Painting and Ceramics.
Polly Callder and Léonie Cronin establish a world built on folklore with elements passed down from person to person, from generation to generation echoed by movements, stories and practices.
Callder’s ghostly seascapes rooted in the local environment and traditional coastal folklore, illuminated only by suns and moons, combine with Cronin’s earthly ceramics that combine all the elements; fire, earth, water and sound.
Together they create a territory marked by cycles of the environment, mind and body invoking a sense of tradition and ritual.
The Burning Cycle represents seasonal rhythmic cycles of our environment and of our existence within it.
