Rhythm, movement and complexity, are key themes in my current work. The work explores the tension between the easy attraction of bold recurring motifs and what might appear to be an alienating wall of illegible marks. What might at first glance appear to be a random distribution of colour turns out to be a form or a figure that slowly emerges from the many layers that make up the surface of the work. The dynamic of attraction and resistance is my invitation to a viewer to linger, to explore and to roam across surface of the picture; to enjoy the pleasures of looking and to participate in making the meaning of the work.
