Growing up with sensory processing disorder allowed me to visualise and feel the world differently to others… noticing sounds and light in extreme ways people were unable to inspired me to capture it in art, using humanoid characters to stage the scene and draw focus into how mundane interactions for sensory subjects may be perceived as stressing by different people.
Due to this, my illustrations typically follow with how I physically see or feel noise, extreme lighting is used within the drawings to provide it with overwhelming amounts of colour, displaying the range of how distracting or relaxing sound can act in every day life. With the usage of other techniques such as perspective, I hope to create an eye-candy look for my art! Which grabs your attention first and allows you to analyse it afterwards.
When not focusing my art on music, I enjoy exaggerating techniques, going against the general taught art fundamentals… instead approaching it from a science perspective. In my view it’s always been more interesting to replace the standard teachings of colour theory with how light would behave from a physics perspective.
Alongside this, high amounts of exaggeration may be seen with the characters presented. Using large, unrealistic, flowing hair to guide the viewers eyes across the scene is one of my favorite techniques! This is however contrasted with the usage of blank expressions seen, representing how neurodivergent people are expected to deal with difficulties others do not face without causing any issues.
