Jacek Krzysik
My work utilizes established motifs not as subjects, but as structural catalysts for formal experimentation. While my current series engages with the floral tradition, it shifts the emphasis from connotations of beauty and fragility toward an exploration of visual dynamics.
Shapes dissolve into overlapping layers, generating a field where figuration and abstraction coexist. This space is dominated by bold chromatic contrasts and a graphic sensibility reminiscent of linocut techniques. Through the repetition and mirroring of forms, the perception of the natural motif is destabilized, inviting a focus on rhythm, color tension, and surface energy rather than on representation itself.
This approach extends to contemporary subjects, such as a crushed soda can—a symbol of consumption stripped of purpose and reduced to waste. By abstracting this discarded object, I transform it into a subject for contemplation. The work highlights the paradox of how useful things instantly become rubbish, scattered across our shared environment. Elevating refuse into art, I seek to challenge our perceptions of value and responsibility, reminding us that our surroundings are our only home in a world defined by cycles of use and neglect.
