Originally a Londoner, I lived for 14 years on Dungeness and am now in Hastings. Working mainly in oil (occasionally acrylic) on canvas or canvas board, I am developing my understanding of colour - complementary or otherwise - and the material qualities of paint itself. I prefer working in the studio rather than outside, from photographs, memory and imagination, developing my sense of narrative. Gradually I am working on larger paintings - appx. 76cm x 100cm (30” x 40”) or more . I have no set subject save for a particular interest in people, animals, faces, and the sea.

I also love the demands of life drawing which make me accurate as well as creative.
