Frances Bristow carves stone from the hardness of Granite to the relative softness of Serpentine and Alabaster. Living by the sea she is inspired by natural shapes seen everyday: the curve of rock in the landscape, waves tumbling as they reach the shore, patterns left by the tide on sand plus the landscape of the human body with its beautiful curves and movement.
Martin Bradshaw: The paintings in this exhibition mark a departure from the style and medium I had employed until fairly recently. I was used to working almost exclusively in watercolour, but a desire to paint in a different way, on larger scale, and to experiment with different techniques, is the result of what is exhibited in this show.
