336: PAINT. THREAD. SOUND

Exhibition ran from 16 May 2023 – 28 May 2023
Open evening: 19 May, 6 - 8pm

336
This body of work has been created using Paint. Thread. Sound by four creative friends, Nathalie Frost, Tim Oakenfull, Mark Shepherd and Richard Reinhardt navigating the theme of time and its impact upon us.
The title represents the duration of the exhibition in hours.

Nathalie Frost
I use contrasting materials to form my work.
I am fascinated by the fragile, transient nature of life. I study the lines and marks laid bare by well worn textiles, within the framework of the natural world, our own skins, and our own stories.

Mark Shepherd
In the winter I create in the studio, in the warmer months I often create on the beach, under low hanging sun.
This work was created over the last year, inspired by the everyday.
I am documenting my imagination on canvas, paper, and handmade paper.

Tim Oakenfull
‘Some things just are.’ Will Oldham (when asked why his songs are so slow)
A mixture of realism and abstraction, I work mainly in oil on canvas. My work isn’t consciously about anything. Ultimately, I’m creating paintings I would want on my own wall.

Richard Reinhardt
Richard Reinhardt is a UK based composer with a focus on ambient, experimental, and cinematic music.
Ambient guitars are mixed with minimal synths, electronic elements, meditative textures, and field recordings to create experimental soundscapes. “Atmosphere is important to me. I prefer to write when it’s dark or raining outside”.
